We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Garth  

HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B Prison located in Lancashire.

The mental health nurse will be based within the healthcare department and will also be required to work on the prison wings. 

HMP Garth Offers:

  • Onsite parking
  • Access to onsite gym

Hours: 

  • Monday - Sunday service 
  • 37.5 hours per week 
  • 7.30am - 5.30pm 
  • 1 weekend in 2 / 3 

Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary of between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

  • NMC Registered - Mental Health 
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
