Counselling and Psychotherapy jobs
15 jobs open on Mental Health Jobs.
Mental Health Jobs lists paid counselling and psychotherapy roles across schools and colleges, university wellbeing services, charities, employee assistance programmes (EAPs), GP practices, NHS services, hospices and online therapy platforms. We don't advertise unpaid roles for qualified practitioners.
Registration: "counsellor" and "psychotherapist" are not protected titles in UK law, but most employers expect membership of a Professional Standards Authority accredited register, such as BACP, UKCP or NCPS. Many NHS and EAP roles ask for accredited status and post-qualification experience. Specialist posts (children and young people, trauma, perinatal, bereavement) often ask for extra training.
Pay: it varies widely by sector. NHS counselling posts (for example in Talking Therapies, using Counselling for Depression) are usually Band 6 or 7. Charity, school and EAP roles set their own salaries or sessional rates. Use the salary filter to compare.
BACP is candid that competition for paid counselling work is strong and that many roles are part-time. Setting up alerts and filtering by setting helps you see openings quickly.
Pay last updated: April 2026 (NHS Agenda for Change, England).
