Salary is up to £63,000 per annum

HCPC registration is required

We are looking for an experienced Principal Psychologist to play a key role in delivering and developing the psychology service within the hospital/unit.

This is a site-based role, working Monday to Friday, 9am5pm.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the psychology provision for a designated ward or group of patients.
  • Providing high-quality psychological input that is responsive to individual patient needs, risks and presentations.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team to support patient care.
  • Undertaking comprehensive psychological assessments, formulation and evaluation to understand patients needs and inform their care.
  • Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions, both individually and in groups, tailored to patients presentations and care pathways.
  • Providing line management to Assistant Psychologists, offering day-to-day guidance, support and supervision.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of effective psychological care within the service.

Priory Beverley House, Edgbaston, Birmingham is a level 2 rehabilitation service for females with complex mental health needs, including emotionally unstable personality disorder, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along City Road and Five Ways railway station approximately 1 mile from the service.
