Job summary

Westlands Ward is looking to recruit a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our established Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Westlands is an 18-bedded female inpatient unit providing intensive, high-quality, person-centred assessment and interventions within a trauma-informed care model. The service supports individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties, helping to inform decisions regarding ongoing support within the community or referral to specialist treatment services where further intervention is required.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and recovery-focused care. You will be expected to provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff across the service and contribute to the development of a positive and therapeutic ward environment.

Applicants should have experience of delivering evidence-based, values-driven and recovery-focused interventions that promote independence, resilience and positive outcomes for service users. Excellent communication, assessment and clinical decision-making skills are essential, along with a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated nurse who is passionate about supporting individuals on their recovery journey and developing their career within an experienced and supportive team.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Team Lead/Clinical Lead, the post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. Working alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, healthcare assistants and other allied professionals, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care that promotes recovery and positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and maintaining care plans, completing risk assessments, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation. You will support service users to maximise their independence, wellbeing and recovery while working in partnership with families, carers and external agencies.

The role requires excellent communication, observational and assessment skills, along with the ability to remain calm and make sound clinical decisions in challenging situations. You will also be responsible for administering medication, monitoring treatment outcomes, and escalating concerns appropriately.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a supportive and dedicated clinical team, delivering compassionate, recovery-focused care to individuals with mental health needs.
